Stony Point Design/Build, LLC, a premiere real estate development firm in Central Virginia, is announcing plans to turn an underutilized 4.35-acre property in the heart of downtown Charlottesville, VA into a $80 million mixed-use urban district. The centerpiece of the multi-building project will feature the adaptive reuse of the historic Monticello Dairy building. A destination food hall with unique local restauranteurs, national retailers, a craft brewery and co-working lab will anchor Phase 1 of the neighborhood hub and create an amenity for 50,000 sf of new Class A office space. Master planning by Cunningham and Quill Architects includes future phases for mixed income multifamily housing, for-sale housing, and additional retail with structured parking.
Located at the corner of 10th Street and Preston Avenue, Dairy Central will start construction in summer 2018 after the demolition of non-historic portions of the Monticello Dairy complex that currently occupies the site. The exciting new retail and commercial assets will form the nucleus of the City’s burgeoning Innovation District and will open to the public in 2020.
