“Hot Pink Pants”: ex-con Priscilla Jane must rebuild her life once she is released from prison. “Hot Pink Pants” is the creation of published author, Cherry Lee, a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Cherry Lee’s gift for storytelling started to blossom when she began making up stories to help her children stay still while she got them ready for Sunday school. She continued this practice to help her grandchildren fall asleep. She did not, however, start writing an actual book until 2013 at the age of seventy-five.

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Cherry Lee’s new book is the story of an ex-con’s journey to rebuild her life after she is released from prison.

As she slowly walked away, Priscilla Jane could hear the prison gates close behind her. Approaching a bench at the nearby bus stop, she cautiously sat down. It had been a long time since she had the freedom to choose where she could go and what she could do. Her mind was a blur.

After a few moments, she reached into her coat pocket to contemplate what she could do with the meager contents of her pocket. She had the handkerchief that Granmom had given to her, a few dollars from the warden, and a letter from her brother, Ramus. She read the words, “Baby sister, if you ever need help, you can count on me.” Those words ran through her brain like manna from heaven. Hope crept into her heart.
