Outskirts Press Readers Choose Gramma Darling as the 2017 Best Book of the Year
Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 18, 2017 -- Outskirts Press, the #1-rated self-publishing company according to Top Consumer Reviews, has announced Lissa Schroeder’s Gramma Darling has won the company’s Best Book of the Year Award. Schroeder’s nostalgic and inspiring memoir was among three finalists selected by Outskirts Press, and chosen as the winner in a live readers’ poll.
“It’s a long road to this honor,” explained Outskirts Press Chief Executive Officer Jeanine Sampson. “Nominees have to win an EVVY Award to even be considered for Best Book of the Year. We typically select only about 2 to 5 percent of the books published in the previous year, so the standards are very high.”
The annual EVVY Awards, sponsored by the Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA) and the CIPA Education and Literacy Foundation (ELF), recognize independent authors in dozens of book genres. Each year, Outskirts Press nominates a small percentage of the books published during the year for submission to the EVVY Awards – typically fewer than 5 percent of the books self-published during the previous year. The standards are exceedingly high and are determined by Outskirts Press executives and members of the production teams.

He also creates illustrations for storyboards and animatics, assisting in the production of nationally broadcast TV commercials. He has two grown children and lives with his wife in Brookfield, Connecticut.
Thousands of readers and writers among the Outskirts Press writing and publishing community were invited to vote and they ultimately chose Gramma Darling from a field of three finalists who are also Colorado Independent Publishers Association EVVY Award winners. The other Best Book of the Year finalists were When a Woman Is in Love with God by Darnelle Wilson, and The Thundering Herd by John Peltier All of three writers have proven their dedication to their work and the marketing of their finished products.
