Momentum Continues as Queen Associates Adds John O’Neill As Vice President, CyberSecure
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) September 21, 2017 -- Queen Associates, an award-winning IT consulting firm, announced the appointment of John O’Neill as Vice President of CyberSecure, further adding to its team of cybersecurity veterans.
O’Neill is Queen Associates’ second high-profile hire in recent months, bringing over 22 years’ experience in financial crime intelligence within the financial services sector, notably leading IBM’s Red Cell Team focused on combating money laundering, fraud, synthetic identities and cyber related issues. O’Neill will be based in Baltimore and focus on accelerating CyberSecure’s financial crime and cyber threat solutions, driving growth for a team that has doubled in size from last year.
Research firm Symantec revealed in their “Internet Security Threat Report” that Cyber attackers had new levels of ambition in 2016. It was a year marked by extraordinary attacks including multi-million dollar virtual heists, overt attempts to disrupt the US electoral process by state-sponsored groups, and some of the biggest distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on record powered by a botnet of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In 2016 there were 1,209 reported breaches and over 1.1 billion identities exposed, leading to an increase in financial crime around the globe.
"I'm joining CyberSecure at a critical time as cyber-attacks continue to grow increasingly sophisticated, forcing businesses to invest in strong security defenses or risk going out of business,” said O’Neill. “Data breaches make headlines daily, challenging organizations to quickly find the right partner to elevate their security measures. That’s why I’m thrilled to join such a talented team of industry experts. We’re offering solutions that not only address our clients’ current risks, but position their organizations to meet the threats of tomorrow.”
O’Neill has spent the last 25 years working in the cybersecurity and financial crime space and is well respected for his business knowledge and thought leadership. His background includes an in-depth application of innovative solutions by utilizing big data and analytics to combat financial crime within multiple sectors including financial institutions, law enforcement, insurance, and telecoms. Prior to leading IBM’s Red Cell Team, O’Neill held the position of Director of Intelligence and Analytics at Bank of America for the Fraud Investigations Group.
In addition to holding a Bachelor Degree in Political Science and Economics, O’Neill is a published author and noted speaker in the Financial Crime and Security industry.
