Deserving Veteran Selected for Mortgage-Free Home thanks to Wade Jurney Homes and Operation Homefront
SAN ANTONIO (PRWEB) September 20, 2017 -- Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit that builds strong, stable, and secure military families so that they can thrive in the communities they have worked so hard to protect, announces today that a military family has been selected to receive a newly-built mortgage-free home from Wade Jurney Homes.
Army Specialist (ret.) Matthew Johnson was selected to receive the 1,513 square-foot, one-story, single-family home in Holly Ridge, North Carolina, through Operation Homefront’s Homes on the Homefront program. The three-bedroom property will provide Matthew, his wife Crystal, and family a home to call their own. The Homes on the Homefront program provides one-on-one homeowner counseling services for one to three years. The family will participate in a customized transition plan, including financial counseling and savings planning.
"Wade Jurney Homes wanted the opportunity to give back to the community and the men and women who serve our country,” said Wade G. Jurney Jr., president of Wade Jurney Homes. “Partnering with Operation Homefront gives us the ability to build a home for those who have given so much for us. We are excited to donate our second home this year to the Johnson family and look forward to welcoming them into their new home soon.
Matthew and Crystal have been married for 13 years and have an 11-year-old son. Matthew and his family will move from Kingwood, Texas, to Holly Ridge, North Carolina for this life changing opportunity.
“Thank you, Operation Homefront and Wade Jurney Homes,” said Matthew and Crystal. “This new home will be a place to plant roots and will give us a chance to settle and see our son grow – in one place.”
“Words can’t express how we feel about this opportunity,” added Matthew and Crystal. “We will not be stressed about finances and our living situation – it is a weight lifted off of our shoulders.”
Matthew’s plans are to save money and to be debt free. He and his wife would like to establish a savings for their son’s college education. Matthew’s dream is to attend the University of North Carolina and to seek a master’s degree in political psychology. His goal is to give back and assist veterans who are suffering with mental illness as a certified counselor. Crystal is a professional photographer and hopes to set up her business in Holly Ridge.
“Operation Homefront is proud to announce we have selected Army Specialist Johnson and his family for this brand new, mortgage-free home donated by Wade Jurney Homes,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., President and CEO of Operation Homefront. “We are thrilled to be partnered with Wade Jurney and know their entire team is fully committed to helping us give the Johnson family, and other deserving military families, the opportunity to thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect."
The Homes on the Homefront program began in 2012. Since inception, Operation Homefront has placed nearly 600 veterans and their families in mortgage-free homes providing more than $56 million in deeded value to military families. Wade Jurney is the second home builder to join the program. The home will be presented to the family on Thursday, November 2, 2017.
