IMCA Australia Announces Intention to Rebrand as CIMA Society of Australia
Melbourne & Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) September 20, 2017 -- IMCA Australia, an affiliate of the global Investment Management Consultants Association® (IMCA®), announced today at its 2017 Annual Conference that it will soon rebrand as the CIMA Society of Australia™. The name change will be rolled out progressively over the ensuing months, with a formal launch to occur early in 2018.
“The new name will further reinforce our commitment to providing the most comprehensive, relevant education and standards available to the advanced investment and wealth management community, and represents the last in a series of significant strategic initiatives that have been taken over the past 18 months,” said Brett Elvish, chairman of IMCA Australia. “IMCA Australia is undertaking this particular initiative as part of the association’s goal of further emphasizing the importance of its exclusive Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) certification, which represents the peak international, technical portfolio construction certification program designed for investment and wealth management practitioners and advocates.”
As the CIMA Society, its primary goal is to provide certification, continuing education, standards and networking opportunities to a community of sophisticated investment professionals. In addition to the CIMA certification program for new candidates, the Society will continue to deliver seminars, conferences, and membership benefits to hundreds of existing CIMA certificants and other professionals from the investment and wealth industry throughout Australia.
Established in 1988, the CIMA certification is the only financial services certification operating in Australia that meets international accreditation standards (ANSI/ISO 17024) for personnel certification. To earn this international accreditation, the CIMA program must consistently distinguish those who meet a global standard of competency and skills in investment management from those who do not.
The CIMA certification process requires candidates to meet all eligibility requirements, including “the four E’s”: Experience, Education, Examination, and Ethics. In addition to a minimum experience requirement of three years, all candidates must attend and complete an executive education program offered in conjunction with one of the following educational institutions: The Investment Management Research Program of Portfolio Construction Forum and University of Technology Sydney, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and Yale School of Management. The final step in the certification process is to pass the rigorous examination requirements. In Australia, Portfolio Construction Forum is IMCA Australia’s Preferred Education Provider, and is responsible for managing and delivering the CIMA certification program and continuing education.
CIMA certification requires proof of continued competency through completion of 40 hours of continuing education every two years. In addition, IMCA Australia enforces adherence to IMCA’s Code of Professional Responsibility through Disciplinary Rules and Procedures, which are administered by a Professional Review Board.
The IMCA Australia 2017 Annual Conference is taking place 19 September in Melbourne and on 20 September Sydney. It features Professor Michael Gallmeyer of the University of Virginia and Michael Thawley of Capital Group International, Inc. More than 350 professionals are in attendance to learn how to navigate investment strategies during a time of geopolitical uncertainty around the globe.
