Amati & Associates, the advisor boutique consulting, introduces a new white paper by Filiberto Amati, and Marco Bevolo, Ph.D., "Premium beyond Digital", created in dialog with more than 20 senior industry experts and thought leaders in marketing, design, and leisure.
The white paper builds upon earlier publications, projects and academic work by both authors on luxury, premium categories, urban futures, technology trend analysis and business consulting across various industries and markets.
"The starting point for this white paper is the 20 years old technological convergence," states Filiberto Amati. "Whereby boundaries between product categories started to overlap: computers were being used instead of TV, or to communicated instead of Telephones, and so on. With the smartification of phones first, and other devices later (e.g., tablets, smart TV, smart Watches, smart domestic appliances,...) the category boundaries have come down completely."
Marco Bevolo reveals, "We posit that convergence, which was initially only technological, has evolved in a social trend, which in the white paper we refer to as 'the Blur,' because the traditional notions of work, play, relax, commute are now indistinguishable. This is due to connectivity and digitalization, but also to consumers willingness to adapt to our new digital lifestyle."
With this exploration, the authors aim to sketch the new landscape of consumption and propose hypotheses of the evolution of luxury and premium that might enable sustainable business growth for the next five years and beyond. To do so, they have identified urban futures and the impact of technologies on future cities as a key factor in the determination of future hypothesis of lifestyle and, therefore, consumption.
