Intalere Partners with 1st Health Systems for Tool to Effectively Manage Emergency Department Visit Coding
St. Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) September 26, 2017 -- Intalere, the healthcare industry leader in delivering optimal cost, quality and clinical outcomes, today announced they have partnered with 1st Health Systems to provide EM (Emergency Medicine) Advantage, a sophisticated and quantitative methodology software tool set for assigning appropriate visit levels and managing charge assignments for all Emergency Department visits.
“Design of the EM Advantage Stealth algorithm assures appropriate visit levels are determined objectively and consistently regardless of the individual user,” said Jim Wilson, chief strategy officer, Intalere. “Selected visit levels are based on the specific hospital resources required to evaluate and manage individual patients and comply with all 11 CMS principles for a hospital’s coding system.”
EM Advantage is based on the active treatment time (ATT) and the intensity of services provided, which are the best indicators of resource use. Stealth (SVL), 1stHealth’s proprietary algorithm, uses both of these indicators along with the following three categories of resource management to determine the visit level:
1. Presenting problem.
2. Diagnostic testing and management processes.
3. Disposition.
An enhanced version of the tool’s management dashboard will soon be implemented, providing an oversight mechanism for the Emergency Visit charge assignment process and charge assignment productivity.
1st Health Systems is a leader in designing, developing, implementing and supporting facility coding software for hospital outpatient services. Their software is used in hospital emergency departments and health information management departments.
