Assembla Goes All-In On Subversion with Enterprise Cloud Version Control
SAN ANTONIO (PRWEB) September 25, 2017 -- Assembla, the leading specialist in Subversion, is unveiling modernized, cloud-based Enterprise Cloud Version Control (ECVC). As part of this initiative, Assembla has fully embedded itself into the SVN community and is committing R&D budget on new versions of SVN that, among other things, enable advanced merge requests, real-time code search and locking.
Assembla's 4,000 customers have 40,000 active SVN users securely storing over 30 Terabytes of data and routes more than 250 Terabytes of traffic in and out of its cloud infrastructure.
“Those developing mission critical products, where a central repository is needed, have been alienated and left behind. With ECVC, this is no longer the case,” said Jacek Materna, Assembla CTO. “Our commitment to further developing enterprise functionality in SVN provides for the first time, a credible version control system in the cloud.”
The enterprise market requires centralized version control, it has however, been forced to settle for distributed version control and non-trunk based development to get to the cloud. This is no longer the case. With ECVC, Assembla delivers enterprise-class version control from a centralized repository with a compliant and secure high-performance wrap-around.
Assembla’s ECVC customers now have access to:
- SVN Merge Requests
- Real-time code search
- Collaboration via Code review
- Code editing in-workflow
- Locking of assets with permissions
- Granular user activity reporting
- Code Blame auditing
- Protected folders
- Cloud Integrations with JIRA, Trello, Amazon and others.
“The teams that use SVN do so because they have an overall software platform that includes not just our source code, but third party packages in binary as well as different reference solutions. Replicating this on everyone’s machine would be cumbersome. The main issue with git is that it becomes a large number of smaller, fragmented repositories with large integration and synchronization issues,” Cary Ussery, Senior Director Cavium Networks.
