Houston's A&C Plastics Assists in Hurricane Harvey Cleanup with Labor and Donations
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) September 27, 2017 -- A&C Plastics, Inc., a local plastics distributer, coordinated relief efforts that helped families in Houston, Beaumont, and Lumberton. Employees of A&C Plastics and volunteers from the Faulk Foundation helped clean up houses, curate donations, and deliver truckloads of supplies to more than 500 families affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Hurricane Harvey, a category 4 storm, made landfall in South Texas on August 25, 2017. It was the first major hurricane to strike the Texas Coast since Hurricane Ike in 2008. Although Harvey made landfall near Corpus Christi, a large portion of the Texas coastline was affected by the storm. Up to 30% of Harris County was submerged from flooding. Over 134,500 residences were damaged or destroyed by the storm as well as hundreds of thousands of vehicles.
A&C Plastics and the Faulk Foundation cleaned houses, cleared rubble and debris, and donated 3,000 sheets of sheetrock, 1,000 bottles of bleach, 5,100 bottles of water, along with countless other supplies. Employees and volunteers loaded supplies that were distributed to families in Houston, Beaumont, and Lumberton.
"We are extremely fortunate and thankful we were able to help those families in the Southeast Texas area that had their lives uprooted due to the Hurricane," said Carolyn Faulk, CEO of A&C Plastics and Founder of the Faulk Foundation. "Our donors and volunteers were amazing in what they helped accomplish, from the hard labor of cleaning up houses, to the generous outpouring of donations in the form of money, items, and gift cards. Without their help, this would not have been possible."
Many of the families affected by Hurricane Harvey lost everything and had no food, clothes, or necessities. Volunteers travelled to areas devastated by the storm to give out supplies and gift cards. HEB, a supermarket chain, and Ross, a department store, gift cards were given to those in need.
