A Revolutionary One-To-One Middle & High School Will Open in Miami-Dade County
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) September 27, 2017 -- Education in America is changing, and Miami will soon be home to a revolutionary private school. Fusion Academy is an accredited, non-traditional middle and high school where classes are one-to-one: one student and one teacher per classroom. The first Florida location will open in Miami-Dade County in January 2018 and will be the 44th Fusion campus nationwide. Fusion’s one-to-one model allows teachers to personalize class curriculum and pace around each student’s strengths, interests, and learning style.
By customizing the learning experience to meet student needs, Fusion students see a dramatic positive impact on their academic success. According to recent data gathered from a Fusion survey, 64 percent of Fusion students agree they have increased their learning compared to their previous school. In addition, the data shows 83 percent of students demonstrate a powerful increase in academic confidence after just three months at Fusion.
Fusion offers over 250 classes including many unique electives. The campus will feature a state-of-the-art recording studio and a mixed media art studio. Social and emotional wellness are a strong focus of Fusion, and there are classes and supplemental programs available. Many students enroll full time, but there are options to take classes for credit or seek tutoring/test preparation help.
The one-to-one school will be led by Head of School, Maria J. Cardenas, who earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida International University. Prior to joining Fusion Academy, the Miami native served as the Assistant Principal at Archbishop Carroll High School and Department Chair at Miami Arts Charter School. Ms. Cardenas is excited to bring her experience and talents to a new learning environment in Miami that fosters impressive growth in students.
“We’re receiving a welcoming response from local parents who have been searching for a personalized learning environment for their kids for years,” said Ms. Cardenas. “Fusion Academy allows students the unique opportunity to form a one-to-one relationship with their teacher and receive the personalized attention that fosters academic success.”
The Miami campus will add approximately 30 new jobs, gaining highly experienced, passionate and engaging educators who serve as both one-to-one teachers and mentors for their students at Fusion Academy.
The Fusion Miami-Dade campus will be located at 9130 South Dadeland Blvd, Suite 102, Miami, FL 33156, with easy parking and access to great restaurants, coffee shops and more nearby.
Fusion’s story started over 25 years ago, in a tiny beach town, in the Northern part of San Diego. Fusion Academy first took root out of the frustration with the status quo in traditional schools where students were not thriving, not engaged and not happy kids. Their Founder, Michelle Rose Gilman, saw that building relationships and truly connecting with students, can make the difference in their academic success. Fusion’s one-to-one teaching model proves successful in unlocking academic potential while simultaneously generating opportunities for social and emotional growth, focusing on creative expression. The organization currently operates 44 campuses in the United States, which will soon include the two inaugural Florida campuses in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties.
Fusion Academy is now accepting students in South Florida and neighboring communities for enrollment. For more information, or to connect with the Miami-Dade campus, please call (866) 210-9479 or visit http://www.fusionmiami.com.
