MOBI Confirmed HIPAA Compliant Through Independent Audit
(PRWEB) September 28, 2017 -- MOBI, a mobility management platform that enables enterprises to centralize, comprehend, and control their device ecosystems, has successfully completed an independently verified Health Information Protection Accountability Act (HIPAA) audit and MOBI's controls are compliant with the HIPAA Security and Breach Notification Rules framework. MOBI’s unique software and supporting managed services solutions help Fortune 50 to 500 customers manage their connected devices – including mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and the Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
MOBI is one of the first in its industry to achieve compliance for HIPAA. The compliance confirmation provides independent validation that MOBI’s internal security controls are in accordance with the Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information (Privacy Rule) established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
HIPAA is enforced by the HHS’ Office for Civil Rights. This regulation sets a national standard for the data privacy of specific medical information and how it can be used and released. The standard ensures that all individuals are made aware of how their health information is used and controlled, while still allowing needed health information to be communicated when crucial to providing necessary medical care for one’s health and well-being.
The HIPAA audit measures organizations in six key areas referred to as safeguards: administrative safeguards, physical safeguards, technical safeguards, organizational requirements, policies and procedures and documentation requirements, and breach notification rule. Within each safeguard, the company completed 10 to 20 control areas of assessment.
MOBI takes IT security seriously, regardless of the data source, and devotes a significant amount of time and resources to maintain data privacy and security for all customers. Although MOBI is not required to comply with HIPAA, because neither our employees nor our software has direct contact to any individual’s healthcare information, the organization opted to perform the audit to ensure customers and prospects required to comply with HIPAA regulations would remain confident in the security and controls in place at MOBI.
“The number of companies with HIPAA compliance that exist in the enterprise mobility space are few and far between,” said Eric Sendelbach, MOBI’s Chief Technology Officer. “In an environment where large enterprises are continuously being targeted by hackers, MOBI is committed to ensuring customer data remains safe at all times. MOBI’s HIPAA compliance means healthcare organizations can confidently trust our internal systems to preserve the privacy and security of their mobility program data in a way that’s compliant with all relevant industry and regulatory standards.”
