In 2017, and for the past two years, 212 Media Studios has sent their chief marketing officer, David Phelps, and their director of marketing strategy, Dustin Hickle, to help facilitate Shelly Leifer’s marketing class at Manchester High School.
Liefer, as the business teacher at Manchester, values Phelps and Hickle’s knowledge because they are tangible examples of marketing success for students to meet. “David and Dustin bring an extra element of authenticity to my classroom,” said Leifer. “They have experiences to share that I couldn’t necessarily offer, which enhances the learning environment for my students.”
212 Media Studios is a company with a diverse set of clients, and students benefit from learning how marketing works in a variety of field, from higher education to agriculture. Phelps and Hickle offer consulting and training to help students gain a deeper understanding of marketing and how it is put into practice.
Phelps and Hickle volunteer their time to interact with students and give them the opportunity to ask questions about their final projects. At the end of the semester, they return and serve as the panel to which students present their marketing solutions. “We think it’s important to give students a taste of real marketing experience, vs simply learning class room techniques” said David Phelps. “At the end of the semester it’s amazing to see the practical ideas and innovations they’ve created!”
