Intalere, the healthcare industry leader in delivering optimal cost, quality and clinical outcomes, recently released the latest episode of its Illuminated Path podcast series, “End-to-End Supply Chain Management,” with President and CEO Julius Heil. The episode features the Intalere CEO sharing insights and observations on strategic sourcing and procurement, specifically the need for healthcare providers to build a comprehensive supply chain strategy.
Hosted by Lori Pilla, vice president of Intalere Supply Chain Solutions, Heil tackles topics including:
- Operational metrics in healthcare supply chain that are significant opportunities for improvement and savings.
- The importance of segmentation, agility and measurement in bringing efficiency to the supply chain.
- Ways organizations can more efficiently manage sourcing and procurement.
“By following the best supply chain practice all the way back to the beginning, and making sure everyone is as efficient as they can possibly be, that's how you, ultimately, get the lowest possible distribution cost in order to put the products that are needed in front of the physician and the patient,” said Heil.
He stresses the importance of breaking down barriers and sharing information. “It’s critical for suppliers and the end customers – whether that’s the clinician or the patient – to operate together,” he said. He also emphasizes the importance of minimizing the focus on price of individual goods, and rather asking suppliers to be true partners.
The supply chain podcast is the fourth episode in the Intalere series entitled, Illuminated Path, shining a light on healthcare's best operational practices. Earlier episodes feature the importance of provider organizations and physicians educating themselves on MACRA, shared decision making in the supply chain and value analysis. You can listen to this episode and subscribe to Illuminated Path via iTunes or anywhere you subscribe to podcasts.
The podcast is just one of several free resources and tips Intalere is offering members in recognition of National Healthcare Supply Chain Week, October 1-7, 2017.
