The painting is the focus of the critically acclaimed documentary "Saving Banksy" available on Netflix, which follows art collector Brian Grief as he attempts to save a street painting by infamous British Street Artist Banksy from destruction and the auction block. It asks the question, ‘What would you do if you woke up one morning and found a million dollar Banksy spray-painted on the side of your building. During the course of filming the subject of the documentary received offers from private collectors as high as $700,000. Since production on the movie was completed offers for the now famous Haight Street Rat have exceeded $1.7 million, yet Greif refuses to sell saying "Profiting from art that was meant for the public is wrong".
