October is a great month for Real Estate IRA investors who are looking for discounts on property values.

Noting that April is the “cruelest month” according to T.S. Eliot, Jim Hitt of American IRA recently took to the company blog to note that October might just be the best month for Real Estate IRA investors who are looking to get in to the asset class. With October being the last month before the cold winter season creeps in across broad swaths of the United States, this is the time of year in which investors can find potential discounts on home purchases.

Though investors in Real Estate IRAs know that there are restrictions against buying a home for personal use through an IRA, an investment rental home can be found at a discounted price, according to the numbers from RealtyTrac, as quoted in the blog post at http://www.AmericanIRA.com.

As it turned out, the numbers also showed that April is indeed the cruelest month for real estate investors, wherein buyers tended to pay the most for property values. Other good times of the year to invest in real estate appeared to be July and February.

“October is a great month for investors who are looking for discounts on property values,” said Jim Hitt. “It’s that last bit before winter. People have had their homes on the market all summer long, and they’re losing patience. They want to get moving. They’re willing to lower their price, or at least take a lower offer. And the old adage in real estate is that investors make money on the purchase of the home, not afterwards. Investors have to make the right buying decisions, and that includes the element of timing.”

Jim Hitt stressed that real estate can feel like a very risky venture for some investors, which is why it’s important to mitigate that risk with proper timing. The Real Estate IRA is another way to mitigate risk, by including non-recourse loans that offer investors some protection as they invest in real estate.

“The more an investor can do to inform themselves, the better off they’ll be,” said Jim Hitt. “That includes paying attention to studies that show the best time to invest in real estate.”
