Yauatcha Waikiki, a modern upscale dim sum teahouse by Hakkasan Group, received the distinguished honor of “People’s Choice New Best Restaurant” at the 22nd Honolulu Star-Advertiser ‘Ilima Awards.
Yauatcha was recognized on stage at the awards gala reception at Diamond Head Theatre on Monday, October 9, 2017. The winners were also announced in the ‘Ilima Awards section, A Guide to Oahu’s Top Restaurants, in the Star-Advertiser’s edition of Sunday, October 8, 2017.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser ‘Ilima Awards are considered to be among the highest honors awarded to restaurants in Hawai‘i. Winners are selected in the categories of the Producer’s Award – selected by Diamond Head Theatre; Publisher’s Award – selected by President and Publisher, Dennis Francis; Critic’s Choice – selected by Star-Advertiser food experts; and People’s Choice – voted by Hawai‘i residents.
Opened at the beginning of 2017 on the third level Grand Lanai at Waikiki’s International Market Place in Honolulu, Yauatcha Waikiki offers a refined interpretation of upscale Cantonese dim sum, patisserie inspired by European culinary techniques, a carefully crafted cocktail menu and an innovative tea program. Yauatcha is a Chinese dim sum teahouse offering an all-day dining experience. It launched in Soho, London in 2004 gaining immediate critical acclaim and receiving its Michelin star within a year of opening, which it maintains to this day. Yauatcha City opened in May 2015 following the success of the Soho restaurant. Yauatcha provides a unique dining experience, offering authentic dim sum with a contemporary influence. The menu includes a wide selection of dim sum and a list of over 30 types of tea. Yauatcha is also known for its hand-made petits gateaux and macarons.
