Ohio’s Leading Chemical Companies Give Back to Local Science Teachers
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) October 11, 2017 -- Ohio’s science educators will get a boost this week when the Ohio Chemistry Technology Council (OCTC) hosts its 25th annual Teachers, Industry & Environment (TIE) Conference on October 11-13 at Crowne Plaza in Dublin, Ohio.
The popular TIE conference allows Ohio’s 3rd through 8th-grade science teachers to experience an intensive two-plus days of dynamic presentations, experiments and workshops that enable them to take exciting hands-on science projects back to the classroom.
“OCTC is proud to connect teachers with the resources to bring dynamic experiments and classroom tools back to their students for the 25th year,” said Jenn Klein, president of OCTC. “Quality STEM education is fundamental, and we’re excited to help teachers provide the resources students need to succeed in today’s technology-driven global economy.”
NASA, Ohio EPA and Carnegie Science Center are among the groups presenting during the conference and will utilize toys, fire, liquid nitrogen and other tools to demonstrate fun projects that can get kids interested in science. The conference also provides an opportunity for educators to share experiences and ideas with other educators as well as direct interaction with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and representatives from the chemical manufacturing industry.
“The conference is completely free for participating science teachers from elementary and middle schools across Ohio,” said Klein. “The conference is aligned with state science teaching standards for STEM curriculum, and materials provide educators with an abundance of information on the resources available to them.”
In addition to teaching resources, attendees have the opportunity to earn graduate credits from Ashland University and visit a working facility that produces sophisticated chemicals for the healthcare and personal products industries.
