Florida Hospital Patients Score a Visit with the Lightning "Originals"
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) October 17, 2017 -- Four legendary Tampa Bay Lightning players stopped in at Florida Hospital Tampa Friday, October 13, 2017 to visit with patients. They delivered handshakes, smiles and of course, autographs.
The players stopping in were: Former Team Captain (1998) Rob Zamuner, Steve Maltais, Left wing, Joe Reekie, Defense and Peter Taglianetti, Defense.
The group surprised patients and staff in three areas: the Pediatric Emergency Room, in patient Pediatrics, and the Mom/Baby Unit at Florida Hospital Tampa.
“We are very excited to visit our great friends at Florida Hospital as we kick off the celebration of the Lightning’s inaugural team from 1992-93,” original member Rob Zamuner said. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the Lightning’s 25th anniversary season than by giving back to the community that’s been so good to us.”
“We are proud of our long-standing relationship with the Lightning,” said Brian Adams, President and CEO of Florida Hospital Tampa. “Hosting the players at our hospital to visit with patients and guests is a great example of one of the ways we bring our partnership to life,” he continued.
One pediatric patient was especially thrilled to meet the players, and even had her Lightning jersey on while she was in the hospital. A new dad the players greeted said, “This is the best day of my life!” (Yes, he just had a son who, by the way, happened to watch the Lightning game the night before in his Lightning onesie!)
As part of the 25th Anniversary season, the players were also recognized at a game and participated in a Fan Event.
Florida Hospital is a Championship Level Partner of the Lightning, Presenting Sponsor of the 25th Anniversary Season, and Official Health and Wellness Partner of the Lightning.
