“From Gutter to Grace”: a moving personal account of Tom’s struggles in the dark, his faith in God, and his perseverance to turn away from sin. “From Gutter to Grace” is the creation of published author, Thomas E. Tarpley Sr., the ministry leader of the Fowlerville UB Celebrate Recovery program, a Christian-based program that helps people work through their hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
Thomas shares, “While I was working on the largest case of my financial planning career, the words of Joshua kept coming to mind. ‘Choose ye this day whom you will serve.’ I couldn’t get it out of my head. Then Jesus himself spoke to me in Matthew 6:24, ‘You cannot serve two masters.’
That was it! I was trying to stay in the middle of the road, and God was saying, ‘It’s time to choose up sides.’
My dilemma was, I wanted to do what God wanted me to do, but I didn’t want to give up the money (especially with me being so close to closing a case worth more than I had ever thought possible). One night, I could not bear the stress of indecision any longer, so I gave up and told the Lord, ‘Your will be done, not mine.’”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Thomas E. Tarpley Sr.’s new book is an honest take on a captive’s past experiences of fear, timidity, and a sinful lifestyle for four decades—the life full of wrongdoings that he has broken away from after accepting Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
Tarpley Sr. also tackles how he has been able to stand again after almost giving up in life. This book is an evocative story that proves God’s power to change a sinner’s life and give eternal joy.
