“The Letter”: a breath-taking and compelling book on a mother’s unwavering love for her son who reveals his long-held identity to his family. “The Letter” is the creation of published author, Elaine Tate, a writer who is born with a zest for helping the hurting and loving the less fortunate.

Elaine shares an excerpt from Daniel’s letter, “I fear living the lie any longer will severely affect the person that I am. I can no longer deal with this alone. It is okay to be angry, sad, and confused. I have felt those emotions for a very long time. I have seen a therapist a couple of times. There are support networks available, and I encourage us to use them. I do not want or expect you to be proud that I am gay. I do, however, expect you to be proud of me. I am still the son that you have watched grow and love. I am still 100 percent that person. The only difference is that you know one more detail of my life. In no way have I changed or become something perverse. The fact remains, I did not choose this. I did not ask for this, and I sure as hell did not want this, but the fact remains for whatever reason, I am gay.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Elaine Tate’s new book on a young man revealing his identity that he has hidden in his personal closet from his loved ones touches parents who are struggling to come to terms with their child’s homosexuality, especially those who comprise the Christian community.

There is a stigma of homosexuality in today’s society, and people like Daniel who belongs to the LGBT community deserve the same respect as the heterosexual population.
