“God is Calling Me”: a searing reflection on a life of uncontrolled addiction and anguish giving way to God’s grace and forgiveness. “God is Calling Me” is the creation of published author Patty Bray, a social worker specializing in the care of developmentally disabled adults who resides in Pittsburgh with her husband, Sherman, and their son, O’Ryan.
Brays shares, “My eyes racing over the words, my heart pounding harder, I’m still hitting the pipe. I can’t wait to get done with this stuff. Today is January 10. I felt something unsettling that day. Guilt and shame are my constant companions. I want to stop, but I can’t. I don’t understand Lord. I really want to stop smoking.‘You can’t get out this way,’ Craig shouted at me, obvious disgust and frustration in his voice. ‘We’ll go over the wall,’ I said, without turning around. Please Lord, don’t let me smoke today.”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Patty Bray‘s new book is a window into the life and daily struggles of an addict on her path to recovery.
