DC5G Summit Reports Successful Inaugural Year with Progressive and Holistic 5G Conversation
ROCKVILLE, M.D. (PRWEB) November 01, 2017 -- More than 150 professionals gathered in Washington, DC earlier this month for the inaugural DC5G Summit to share viewpoints, ask questions, and further the progress of the upcoming 5G rollout.
The Summit took place October 11 at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, and showcased 25+ speakers who shared their insight and expertise to a diverse audience representing the entire ecosystem of 5G networks. Representatives from telecommunications, satellite, ground systems, hardware, government, policy, legal and finance engaged in lively conversation with those on stage about the future of 5G.
Here are a few highlights of the 2017 event:
During the “Evolution of Applications, Ecosystem, Vertical Markets and Big Data Analysis in the 5G World: From Enhanced Mobile Broadband to Virtual Reality” panel, Samsung shared live video feed of the Verizon 5G trial apartment in Pentagon City, VA, showing multiple 4K streams playing along with various computer, table and phone usage.
After a networking luncheon, Dr. Preston Marshall of Google, kicked off the afternoon activities with a keynote where he called “indoors the new battlefield for cellular,” sparking the debate on what is the right architecture for fixed deployment of 5G.
DC5G ended with a presentation from Kurt Riegelman, VP of Sales and Marketing at Intelsat, focusing on their vision on the role satellite operators will play in the 5G rollout, and the joint FCC filing with Intel on shared spectrum usage in urban areas.

“The density of the content and the quality of the conversation was a direct result of the diversity of the audience. Everyone needs to be at the table for these discussions and there’s plenty of subject matter that needs to be discussed to ensure a successful rollout and lasting implementation of 5G. For this reason, we are expanding DC5G in 2018 to a two day event. We’re excited to build relationships across industries, foster a holistic conversation on this topic, and continue to bring the many different industries together at one event,” said Jeffrey Hill, DC5G Chairman.
DC5G will return to DC on November 12-13, 2018 at the Capital Hilton, 1001 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20036. For more information and to sign up for event updates, visit http://www.DC5G.com.
