Nearly Six Weeks After Hurricane Maria Made Landfall Almost 70 Percent of the Commonwealth is Still Without Power

Recent news indicates that power companies experienced complications with the company hired to oversee the restoration of Puerto Rico’s electrical grid. Due to these complications, it is now being reported that it could take several months to restore service.

As a result, 1-800-LAW-FIRM is donating 500 solar powered portable chargers to aid Puerto Rico’s local law enforcement and public safety employees with relief efforts. These solar powered chargers will keep workers’ cell phones, cameras, tablets and anything else they need fully-charged and ready for use. The chargers also double as flashlights offering 8 hours of consistent lighting when completely charged.

Ari Kresch, founder of 1-800-LAW-FIRM, opened an office in San Juan in January of 2017. The new office has allowed the firm to provide a wider scope of services for both clients and partner law firms in the growing consumer protection sector.

“I’ve seen first-hand the devastation Hurricane Maria has caused and the lack of power has severely affected the efforts of first responders. I’m hopeful that our donation will assist the individuals responsible for public safety as Puerto Rico recovers from this heartbreaking disaster,” said Kresch. “These individuals are residents also and most continue to sort through the wreckage of their property without electricity being available.”

Kresch and his family maintain a residence in San Juan and are honored to be members of this resilient community. The 1-800-LAW-FIRM founder is actively engaged in ensuring that policy holders receive fair and just outcomes from their insurance companies.

“Right now, in my own home, I have water and a single outlet of electricity that is powered by a generator,” said Kresch. “The hurricane left many people without houses, without food, without water, no electricity and an insurance claim is not a priority at this moment. I’m working with several groups to help ensure that insurance companies are held accountable and comply with the Unfair Claim Adjustment Practices or Actions statute that provides protection to policyholders when those claims are submitted.”
