Art Alliance Austin Throws Third Annual ARTBASH Art Party at Native Hostel, November 10
AUSTIN, Texas (PRWEB) November 02, 2017 -- On Friday, November 10th, Art Alliance Austin will host its third annual ARTBASH, the organization’s fall contemporary art extravaganza and fundraiser. Kicking off the first weekend of Big Medium’s East Austin Studio Tour, ARTBASH will transform Native Hostel into an immersive art exhibition and experience centered around all-new, site-specific installations from eight Austin artists and also feature live performance arts, food and drink. A special VIP showing catered by Juniper will preclude the main event, and the exhibition will remain open to the public during the remainder of the first weekend of EAST – November 11th and 12th – with catered happy hours by Stella San Jac and talks with the artists each afternoon from 4-6 p.m.
Curated in collaboration with Big Medium, the ARTBASH exhibition will include new and completely original art installations from eight local artists, exploring the dual themes of “Immersion + Mobility” through each artist’s unique style and process. Each piece will be created specifically for the space and then exhibited seamlessly throughout Native, taking over every nook and cranny of the hostel for the length of the exhibition. Participating artists include: Olaniyi Rasheed Akindiya, Rachel Bury, Ted Carey, Ryan Hawk, Alicia Link, Manik Raj Nakra, Teruko Nimura and Suzanne Wyss. The artists will be present at the event to discuss their unique, personal approach to the themes and how their processes led them to their final pieces.
“We’re thrilled to be working with such exciting artists this year, and to have a fantastic venue to host our biggest party of the year,” said Art Alliance Austin executive director Jade Walker. “There’s such a great depth of artistic talent in this city, and connecting that talent with the Austin community is the reason for what we do.”
Against the “ART” backdrop of this unique contemporary exhibition, the “BASH” side of the celebration encourages attendees to interact and engage with the Austin art community in an intimate and fun environment – with music provided by DJ Zetroc and free drinks courtesy of Tito’s, Topo Chico, Nine Banded Whiskey, Serendipity Wines, Brown Distrubuting Company and Texas Sake, ARTBASH promises to be a night of indulgent artistry. Exclusive live performances by Olaniyi Akindiya, Meh, and Justin Sherburn with his group Montopolis will also take place at the top of each hour of the party, turning this exhibition into a dynamic multisensory experience – more social than an exhibition, more curated than a party. Additional environmental activations from local artists April Garcia, Dominique Davis, P1nkstar, Matthew Shields, Nat Bradford and Tsz Kam round out Native’s transformation from hostel to gallery.
Art Alliance Austin is also offering a limited number of tickets for an exclusive VIP preview reception featuring a special menu catered by chef Nicolas Yanes of Juniper before the main event – offering attendees a more intimate experience of the exhibition, and the ability to interact with each artist on a more personal level. The VIP reception will also feature acts and performances not available to attendees of the main event.
Following the opening celebration on the night of November 10, the exhibition will remain open to the public for the first weekend of Big Medium’s East Austin Studio tour, with happy hours planned each afternoon from 4-6 p.m. ARTBASH participating artists Teruko Nimura and Suzanne Wyss will speak about their work during the happy hours on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, with refreshments provided by Stella San Jac and Chef Martin Wilda.
“ARTBASH is Art Alliance’s biggest annual fundraiser and membership drive, and it’s an opportunity for us to showcase what we do as an organization,” said Walker. “What we want is for people to leave the exhibition with a fuller sense of how many great artists Austin supports and how they can get involved with supporting them.”
