HotelsByDay, a hotel-booking site that allows guests to reserve a customizable day stay, is engaging travelers in an intriguing new way: On November 1st, the innovative startup launched the “Swell Hotel” photography contest. The contest provides an arena for hotel guests to post their interesting, quirky, artistic, and feel good images and videos on Instagram.
Each week, the top 3 guest who received the most “likes” on their image or video will have their content reposted on HotelsByDay Instagram account and the one with the most ‘likes’ will win $100 in cash.
The Swell Hotel photo contest is designed to help encourage more tourism by sharing the quieter moments, exciting moments, and every moment in between, from the hotel guests themselves. By encouraging guests to share their experiences, more people will be inspired to travel – from longer excursions to shorter day stays. The “Swell Hotel” empowers fellow travelers to vote for their favorites with their “likes.” It’s a contest driven by the users themselves – they provide the entries and determine the winners.

We want all sorts of hotel content, whether it's a pillow at plush 5 star property, or a bell-boy at a standard hotel, and make hotels fun again to this Airbnb demographic.” He adds that the media shared by contestants must stay decent and any images breaking hotel policies or showing any lude scenarios are strictly forbidden.
The Swell Hotel Contest guidelines are quite simple:
1. Take a creative photo from any hotel.
2. Tag @HotelsByDay on the photo and in the description, and set the precise location of your hotel. Describe your photo/video however you’d like, but please include the hashtags #DayRoom #FlexibleBooking #Hotel
3. The top three photographs or videos with the most ‘likes’ will be re-posted on @HotelsByDay. Then, photo or video to receive the most likes on the second round will be the final winner.
4. HotelsByDay will contact the contestant who won and publicly announce the weekly winner.
Contestants will have from Monday to Sunday to post their photos or videos. Each week has a rolling deadline of Sunday at 11:59 p.m. EST. To become a contestant, all the person must do is follow HotelsByDay on Instagram – there are no further obligations necessary to be eligible to win $100. Winners will be alerted on the following Friday.
