Interjet Reports Record Increases in International Passenger Traffic and Growth for 3rd Quarter
Mexico City (PRWEB) November 03, 2017 -- Interjet reported record international passenger traffic for the 3rd quarter of 2017, posting a 23% increase in passenger traffic compared with the same period last year, according to figures released by the company this week. During the 3rd quarter, Interjet transported more than 733,000 passengers with load factors for August alone, up over 34% YOY.
“This increase in passenger traffic came in the face of a number of challenges experienced by the airline industry this quarter, including hurricanes and the devastating earthquake in our home country,” said José Luis Garza, CEO of Interjet. “I am very proud of the way our Interjet family responded to these challenges and the great results we’ve been able to achieve in spite of this adversity,” he added.
Interjet continues to expand its international service and recently announced the addition of new, non-stop flights between Los Angeles and Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta and El Bajío, Mexico. Interjet already serves Los Angeles with non-stop flights to Cancun, Mexico City and Guadalajara, Mexico. This new service is scheduled to start November 23, 2017.
“These new, international flights are important to Interjet as they will complement our ever-expanding network offering leisure and business travelers more destinations to choose from when traveling to Mexico from the U.S.,” said Julio Gamero, Interjet’s Chief Commercial Officer. We’re now flying more than 18% of all international traffic between North America and Mexico, and our footprint is only going to get bigger,” he added.
Interjet, was recently named the TripAdvisor 2017 Travelers’ Choice winner as the best Mexican airline. In addition to lower fares, Interjet offers more legroom between seats, inflight service that includes free light snacks and drinks, no fees for checked baggage on specific fares and female-only lavatories.
