With the Breeders’ Cup World Championships serving as the climactic conclusion to the Thoroughbred racing season, there’s plenty of revelry and pageantry accompanying the race card where champion-caliber horses vie for top honors and some of the richest purses in the sport.

This year marks the 34th running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, and the first time the event has been held at Del Mar, bringing an estimated $65 million economic impact to the San Diego area, according to the Breeders’ Cup Host Committee, organizer of the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Festival.
