HOUSTON (PRWEB) November 07, 2017 -- The event entitled “Bold and Brazen: Raising the Bar” will celebrate the organization’s 3rd year of assisting women in the Houston area, and pay tribute to Ms. Reed as an indispensable partner in the work of the foundation. Founder Shantera Chatman said of Reed: “Vanessa Reed has been boldly advocating for and mentoring women in our community for a long time. We’re excited to be able to thank her publicly for her work with us, as well as shine a spotlight on her dedication as a PowHerful model that other women can follow.”
The foundation will award scholarships to this year’s recipients in three categories:
- Women building their own businesses
- Women going back to school
- Women transitioning from shelters
In addition, this year the foundation will award assistance to applicants who have been displaced by hurricane Harvey. “We always want to honor women, but especially those in need. Harvey wreaked havoc on a lot of people, and we hope the awards can help these women put their lives back together.” Chatman added.
Tickets to the awards dinner are on sale until Tuesday, November 7th, and donations are also being held open for this year’s awards until November 7th to allow the foundation to give the most assistance possible.
