Superhero fans discover the origins of Marvel characters made famous by comic book creators like Frank Miller, Paul Smith, and John Romita Jr. A portion of the proceeds from the documentary, “The REAL Marvel” - It’s Your Turn, go toward the Hero Initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to helping comic book creators in need.

“Our intention is to show how Marvel Studios and Hollywood are taking the histories of Marvel Comics characters and altering them in movies, television, and current comics to fit a whole new agenda,” said creator Jamminn’ Jami Johnson of SEZWAH.

Jammin' Jami Johnson, frontman and lead guitarist for SEZWAH presents “The REAL Marvel” - It’s Your Turn. Viewers learn about pivotal artists like Paul Smith, who design costumes showcasing a variety of body types, masks, and ethnicities that represent diversity in the Marvel universe. Aspects that Hollywood and Marvel Studios continue to ignore.

Johnson calls on comic book fans to learn and advocate for true portrayals of female superheroes and superheroes of color.

“It’s time our favorite heroes are revealed and respected for who they truly are, and their creators have their works acknowledged and properly represented in mainstream media. It’s your turn to know the truth, and it’s your turn to do something about it,” said Johnson.

A portion of the proceeds from the documentary will go toward the Hero Initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to helping comic book creators in need.

“The REAL Marvel” - It’s Your Turn is now available for free on Youtube.
