Inventor and Entrepreneur Joy Mangano Donates a Portion of the Proceeds from Her New Book INVENTING JOY to Nonprofit Rising Tide Capital
(PRWEB) November 06, 2017 -- On November 7, Rising Tide Capital’s (RTC) partner and supporter Joy Mangano, president of Ingenious Designs and the inventor and entrepreneur whose story inspired Jennifer Lawrence’s Golden Globe-winning performance in the film “JOY”, will release her debut book about her entrepreneurial journey and the lessons she has learned along the way. Mangano, who has partnered with Rising Tide Capital since 2015, will donate a portion of the book sales to RTC, a nonprofit that works with struggling entrepreneurs from low-resource communities to build businesses that transform their lives, families and communities.
The book, INVENTING JOY is Joy’s blueprint to find success in life and in business. It details her story as a single, struggling mom of three who harnessed her creativity and positivity to become a leading inventor who has sold billions of home products across the world.
“Joy’s story raises awareness of the grit, determination and enormous potential of local entrepreneurs to start the kinds of businesses that can uplift our neighborhoods, hire more people into good local jobs, and build a new, thriving economy,” said Alfa Demmellash, CEO and co-founder of Rising Tide Capital. “The typical entrepreneur we serve at Rising Tide Capital is a 40-year-old mother of two children, who is working but not earning enough to sustain her family--very much like Joy who was a single mom of three when she first started on her entrepreneurial journey. With this book, Joy has turned her story into a playbook for success that will surely inspire and engage many entrepreneurs, including ours, to build their own paths. We have been so grateful for her generosity and partnership over the years, and this latest evolution of our work together provides both inspiration as well as tangible support for our work and mission.”
As of December 2016, 1,770 entrepreneurs have graduated from RTC’s nationally-recognized 12-week Community Business Academy, a business bootcamp where entrepreneurs gain hands-on skills in learning how to start and grow a sustainable business. In 2017, more than 400 entrepreneurs will join their pool of graduates who often continue to receive year-round support through RTC’s Business Acceleration Services. From credit counselling and loan packaging and preparation, to a “RTC HelpDesk” that includes lawyers, accountants, marketing professionals and business coaches, RTC helps entrepreneurs set goals for their business growth and provides the tools to meet them.
RTC currently works with about 1,000 entrepreneurs in both English and Spanish in five cities throughout Northern New Jersey. While the organization is headquartered in Jersey City, three years ago, they partnered with another organization to pilot a replication project, which is currently serving entrepreneurs in three cities throughout the Chicagoland area in Illinois.
“Starting a business takes a lot of courage, and every entrepreneur taking their first step needs a support system,” entrepreneur and author Joy Mangano added. “Rising Tide Capital is that support system for a whole network of entrepreneurs and their communities. I remember the many challenges I faced when I first started out. It’s incredibly important to me that I help others overcome their obstacles, too. I wrote INVENTING JOY to help inspire light, bright people to lead more joyful lives. It only seems fitting that a portion of the sales will help Rising Tide Capital beneficiaries transform their lives.”
To celebrate the release of her book, Joy is embarking on an exciting book tour to meet with her readers who are ready to take the first step of their new lives with her.
