Leading California Education Technology Association Gears Up for its’ 57th Annual Conference with K-12 Leaders in IT and EdTech
Sacramento, California (PRWEB) November 08, 2017 -- Taking an innovative leap into future ready learning across California K-12 and higher education, the California Educational Technology Professionals Association (CETPA) announces its 57th Annual Conference lineup and special events housed within the conference, such as the Future Innovator’s Showcase, a tradeshow Expo, renowned keynotes, featured speakers and more. With new trends in technology on the rise in education, CETPA continues to make great strides in professional development and support of California EdTech professionals serving in IT leadership and support roles across the state. More than 1,200 participants and nearly 300 booths with 1,000+ vendors are anticipated to attend this year’s conference and showcase to be held November 14-17, at the Pasadena Convention Center, located at 300 E Green St, Pasadena, Ca., 91101.
The CETPA Annual Conference concentrates on professional learning and providing resources to IT Professionals working in the California education community. This year will feature three major keynotes, several featured speakers and hot topics in sessions that include Leadership, Project Management, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, and Infrastructure, with informative sessions on E-rate and LCFF/LCAP, and more. The event will feature hands-on labs by Microsoft, Apple, Google and cybersecurity experts will provide real training for the applications being used today. Leading EdTech professionals will also provide many insightful sessions to ensure that IT Professionals understand the needs of the classroom. CETPA’s original Shootout sessions give vendors the chance to wow audiences with their products in a round-robin style setting so that attendees can evaluate multiple products, ask questions, and vote on the best presentation! This year’s topics include Help Desk Solutions, 3D Printer Solutions, Wireless Projection/Mirroring Solutions, Next Generation Firewalls, and Managed Detection Response (MDR) Services.
This year will also feature the third annual Future Innovators’ Showcase, where 65 students have been selected alongside 18 educators in California statewide K-12 school districts to showcase robotics and other inventions and their use of technology in unique and creative ways to enhance education.
“Events such as the CETPA Future Innovators’ Showcase are not just about the technology; rather they highlight changes in how we need to be educating all children,” said Peter Skibitzki, CETPA Past President and Treasurer. “Only through embracing the benefits of technology, will the students of today become the inventors and innovators of tomorrow.”
Participating in this year’s Future Innovators’ Showcase will include the following California school districts: Fallbrook Union Elementary, San Bernardino Unified, Victoriano Elementary School, Jurupa Unified, Vista Del Mar Middle School of Capistrano Unified School District, Lakeview Leadership Academy and Val Verde USD. The highly anticipated showcase will be held on November 15, 9:00am-12:00pm inside the conference center.
Three featured keynotes for the event include the famous astronaut, Captain Scott Kelly, who captivated the world and seized the imagination of millions during his record-breaking voyage to space, and is known for his challenging discussions on dreaming big, pushing participants to test the status quo; The honorable Tim Wu, a leading professional in First Amendment issues and Net Neutrality theory, where he addresses hot topics that cater to the underlying political issues in the edtech community; and mathematician, musician and scientist, Dr. Eugenia Cheng, who has a formula that math can be fun and relevant for all ages with a variety of elements that help her prove that anyone can Bake Pi!
Modern 21st Century classroom furniture will be provided by both Tangram and Moore. Also, participants can expect a Virtual Reality Playground at the event, sponsored by CDW-G and HTC. Overwhelmed attendees may stop by the CETPA Chill Zone for unconference discussions in a comfortable setting.
