Utah Film Studios Hosts Kevin Costner Television Project “Yellowstone”
Park City, Utah (PRWEB) November 08, 2017 -- Utah Film Studios, located in Park City, Utah is a cutting-edge motion picture and television production facility. The 30-acre grounds, formerly home to Park City Film Studios, boasts 45,000 sq. ft. of purpose-built sound stages, 24,000 sq. ft. of production offices, a 10,000 sq. ft. construction mill with plans to develop the additional acreage to a total of 374,000 sq. ft. The current project being lensed at Utah Film Studios is Yellowstone, a scripted dramatic television series created by Oscar-nominated writer and director Taylor Sheridan.
Yellowstone is Kevin Costner’s television series debut and the first original scripted series greenlit for the brand new Paramount Network – replacing Spike TV in January 2018. Oscar-nominated writer and executive producer Taylor Sheridan is the creator of the series backed by Paramount. Alongside Costner, Yellowstone will star Brothers & Sisters alum David Annable, Gil Birmingham from Hell or High Water, and Wendy Moniz from Netflix’s House of Cards. Production of the 10-episode series is expected to bring $30 million to the Utah economy. The series is slated to air in the summer of 2018.
The show is contemporary drama focused on the Dutton family, led by Kevin Costner as John Dutton. The Duttons own the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. A ranch that is under attack from land developers, Native American reserves, and America’s first national park.
“We are very excited to be working with Mr. Costner, the Paramount Network, and the cast and crew of Yellowstone,” said Ryan Crandall, a principle of Utah Film Studios. “When we launched Utah Film Studios on the former grounds of Park City Film Studios, this was exactly the type of high-profile production we wanted to help bring to the state. I believe this is only the beginning of the great productions to come”
Utah Film Studios was founded in 2017 at the former location of Park City Film Studios. The 30-acre grounds is a comprehensive television and movie production facility. There are 45,000 sq. ft. of sound stage space divided over three 15,000 sq. ft. stages. Additionally, there are 24,000 sq. ft. of production with 36 private offices include multiple changing rooms, four break rooms, two conference rooms, and a fully functional hair and makeup suite. Sets can be constructed on-site at Utah Film Studios in the 10,000 sq. ft. construction mill. All production offices are located directly adjacent to the sound stages with interior hallways for easy access to each of the three stages. On-site purpose-built wardrobes and laundry facilities means most activities can be performed at the film studio.
In 2015, the first project produced at the studios was the ABC Television drama Blood & Oil starring Don Johnson. In the time since that initial production, 33 events and projects have been hosted at Utah Film Studios’ location including numerous commercials, music videos, corporate events, and independent films. The motion pictures Wind River starring Jeremy Renner and Damsel with Robert Pattinson were shot at the studio. Legendary band Lynyrd Skynyrd performed on the stages and the current mega band Imagine Dragons recently filmed their Believer music video at the studios.
Moving forward, Utah Film Studios has plans for massive expansion at the property. Currently in the works is the development of an internationally branded 100-room hotel with conference center, an office building, amphitheater, and retail with a mixed-use component. After completion of the project, Utah Film Studios will have more than 374,000 sq. ft. of dynamic production, office, hotel, and retail space.
Utah Film Studios is owned by Crandall Capital, a family-held real estate development firm headquartered in Park City, Utah.
