Utica College and U.S. Office of Personnel Management Form an Educational Alliance
UTICA, N.Y. (PRWEB) November 15, 2017 -- Utica College is pleased to announce the launch of a new alliance (http://landing.online.utica.edu/federalgovernment) with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), which will offer substantial savings on its breadth of regionally accredited, online programs to the Federal Government's civilian workforce.
Under the agreement, which takes effect immediately, over 1.8 million Federal Government employees and their spouses and dependents may qualify for a 10 percent tuition discount on eligible online certificate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs at Utica. These programs support the development of skills and knowledge that are critical to a wide variety of Government operations and agencies in fields like cybersecurity, data science, financial crime, business administration, nursing, physical therapy, criminal justice and healthcare administration.
Utica College has a long history of online education excellence and a keen understanding of adult learners who must balance their education with their jobs, families, and other responsibilities. Programs are offered part-time and in the online format to maximize convenience and flexibility for this student population.
Eligible program participants will also benefit from:
• Waived application fees
• 100 percent online convenience for anytime, anywhere learning
• Numerous degree specialization options to suit individual career goals
• Small class sizes to foster faculty-student interaction
• Personalized academic and 24/7 technical support from start through graduation and beyond
• A faculty of industry-leading practitioners with extensive experience in the field
• Industry affiliations and education partnerships with public and private sector organizations
Utica College’s cybersecurity programs are especially beneficial to Federal Government employees due to several high-profile and respected designations in that field: as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, as a National Center of Digital Forensics Academic Excellence (CDFAE) by the Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3), and as an Academic Center of Excellence by EC-Council, a premier certifying body in the field of cybersecurity.
“This alliance will help Federal employees pursue their personal educational and career goals as well as meet the Government’s need for individuals with high-level, cutting-edge skills in their fields,” said Polly Smith, Vice President for Online and Extended Studies at Utica College. “We are proud to support the Government in creating and maintaining a workforce of highly-capable and knowledgeable professionals.”
Subject matter experts in the Federal Government will also have the opportunity to collaborate with Utica College on incorporating the public sector perspective into program coursework. In addition, as part of the OPM Volunteer Service Program, Utica College students may also have the opportunity to collaborate on Government projects through unpaid internships.
Utica College is now accepting applications for the spring 2018 semester.
