ZyDoc, a New York-based medical informatics company, is pleased to announce its acceptance into the Stony Brook Incubator Program at Stony Brook University. The Incubator Program, which helps technologically innovative companies grow by providing them with a variety of support resources and services, has four locations totaling more than 100,000sf. The ZyDoc R&D team will move into the the New York State Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) this month.

Selection criteria for acceptance into the program include “consistency of the ventures identified or planned industry or business sector with [its] mission of supporting the future leaders of Long Island's high technology economy... [and] demonstration of capacity to achieve the venture's business goals including expertise in chosen technology field(s), market assessment, management team, adequacy of financial support...”

In 1993, ZyDoc developed one of the first EMRs, which was subsequently sold to the U.S. Department of Defense. In 1999, ZyDoc’s speech recognition medical language models were bundled with Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical. In 2003, ZyDoc shifted focus to web-based transcription services that became the industry standard. ZyDoc’s mission is to increase the efficiency of physicians to improve patient care and outcomes, lower malpractice risk, and ensure appropriate reimbursement through the use of software technologies and services, including its award-winning, HIPAA-secure, cloud-based e-transcription infrastructure and medical informatics technologies, and its MediSapien web-based knowledge management platform that uses disruptive natural language processing (NLP) and AI technologies.

About the Stony Brook Incubator Program
The Stony Brook Incubator Program has four facilities aggregating to 106,000sf, plus a “virtual” Clean Energy Business Incubator Program funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.The oldest and largest facility, the Long Island High Technology Incubator, offers the only wet lab space in very small footprints affordable by startups and most of its tenants are developing diagnostics, therapeutics and medical devices. CEWIT hosts IT companies, including medical IT; its R&D Park neighbor, the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AEC) accommodates energy companies, and a 24,000sf facility in Calverton, near Brookhaven National Laboratory, is a multi-technology operation with food processing lines serving the East End agricultural community. To best capitalize on the IT revolution, spur economic growth, advance scientific research and develop the technologies of tomorrow, the New York State Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) opened in 2009 as the 100,000sf initial anchor in Stony Brook University’s Research and Development Park.
