RK Logistics, Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation Team Up to Support "Stem With Mayor Sam"
SAN JOSE, Calif. (PRWEB) November 08, 2017 -- Underserved elementary and middle school students are learning more about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) thanks to two local business organizations' support for San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo's "STEM with Mayor Sam" program.
Fremont's RK Logistics Group teamed up with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation to provide funds for the Mayor's innovative educational outreach program, whose goal is "to inspire scientific curiosity and wonder in students, and to educate parents on the value and importance of STEM education."
The program engages students, their families, school staff, scientists and engineers, and Mayor Sam Liccardo in on-site meetings at schools. Discussions and presentations cover the importance of a quality STEM education and include a fun, educational and interactive STEM activity and Elevate Math sessions.
"Encouraging kids at early ages to take an interest in math, science and technology is the key to developing the next generation of engineering and technology innovators," said Rod Kalune, CEO of RK Logistics Group. The $1,000 contribution to the Mayor's STEM program was made on behalf of Silicon Valley Leadership Group CEO Carl Guardino, who donated an honorarium he received for speaking at an RK Logistics-sponsored industry conference.
