Complimentary Webinar to Showcase New Telemedicine Accreditation Program
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (PRWEB) November 10, 2017 -- ClearHealth Quality Institute TM (CHQI) announces the continuation of its Fall 2017 Educational Series by hosting the next installment in the series, entitled Telemedicine Accreditation: Why One Size Doesn’t Fit All on Nov. 15, 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. EST. The webinar will feature influential leaders in Telemedicine and will highlight the only accreditation program endorsed by the American Telemedicine Association (ATA). “Telemedicine promises to greatly improve access to health care that is equal to in-person care—particularly for underserved communities and those with limited mobility,” says Sabrina Smith, Dr.HA., ATA’s interim CEO. “Quality, safety, and the integrity of health consults, are equally important to increasing access to care. The CHQI Telemedicine Accreditation Program will ensure these important indicators are achieved.”
Dr. Smith will moderate the webinar which will include perspectives from Doug Clarke, M.Ed., CHQI executive director, accreditation programs; and Standards Committee co-chair Alexis Gilroy, JD, Jones Day partner.
The webinar will provide an overview of emerging and important areas in telemedicine, including: industry and regulatory trends; how the new Telemedicine Accreditation Standards have been updated and expanded over the past six months; and highlight next steps as CHQI and ATA move towards finalizing the new Standards. In addition, presenters will provide an overview of how telemedicine organizations can apply for the new accreditation program.
“Telemedicine is unique in that it covers the entire spectrum of health care – from cardiovascular to psychiatric services,” adds Clarke. “Our accreditation philosophy responsibly reflects the unique modalities of care, recognizing that a One Size Fits All approach does not work. CHQI is committed to working with ATA and other stakeholders to use our accreditation program as a meaningful way to promote best practices.”
“During the webinar and with an eye towards transparency, we will highlight some of the key issues that were discussed during CHQI’s Standards Committee proceedings,” comments Gilroy. “It was important for the Committee to incorporate participation from an independent and diverse cross-section of the industry to ensure the accreditation assessment process is appropriate, credible, and considers nuances unique to telemedicine workflows.” In the coming weeks, CHQI will solicit public feedback on proposed standards during a Comment period.
The highly anticipated launch of the Telemedicine Accreditation Program (TAP) will take place in December. Perspective accreditation applicants can pre-register now via the CHQI TAP portal.
The Telemedicine webinar is just one in a series of educational programs the accreditation body will host through December. The upcoming topic includes a preview of future CHQI programs for 2018. The most recent webinar detailed an overview of Behavioral Health Parity Accreditation. To see a full listing of educational events, click here.
