New York, NY (PRWEB) November 10, 2017 -- If you’re a tech enthusiast, crafter, educator, tinkerer, hobbyist, engineer, science club member, author, artist, student, entrepreneur, or maker of any kind— you’re a Maker. The Maker movement is grounded in the simple fact that making is so basic and fundamental to who we are as people… we have always found ways to use tools and tell stories and when you “MAKE” something you do both at once… it’s powerful. And it is clear that technology is the new tool set of the 21st century. Recently, Barnes & Noble teamed with YourUpdateTV to provide a preview of what everyone can expect at this year’s faire.
A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHjGucL9qJc&feature=youtu.be
This year’s third annual Barnes & Noble Mini Maker Faire will be about the latest technologies being explored in the emerging worlds of virtual and augmented reality, expanding the curriculum of coding and programing, along with the sharing of new materials to build and create. Some of the products available for Making include:
• Thames & Kosmos Ooze Labs
• Be Amazing Frozen Science Kit
• Sarabella’s Thinking Cap
• My Intent Jewelry
• LEGO®; Brackitz; Magformers; Squigz; Strawbees
This all comes at a pivotal moment for the United States. According to the Bureau of Labor, if nothing changes, in the year 2020 there will be 1.5 million U.S. technology jobs that will go unfilled due to lack of available talent. To help answer this call, Barnes & Noble and Maker Media, creator of Make: Magazine are teaming up for the third year to give children and adults in communities across the country the permission to explore, learn, make mistakes and have fun while building their tech literacy skills.
Barnes & Noble stores throughout the U.S. will once again be transformed into a fun and interactive education space featuring events like Meet the Makers, Make Workspace and Make & Collaborate. During these events, customers can interact with Makers, get hands-on with some of the latest materials for building and constructing and be introduced to some of the newest innovations using virtual reality, augmented reality, robotics, coding and programming and more! Guests of all ages will also have the opportunity to get hands-on experiences around the art of designing, handcrafting and constructing, in the spirit of collaboration, cooperative learning and teamwork.
