According to the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, part-time workers comprise about 17% of the total U.S. workforce, the majority of whom are working part-time for non-economic reasons (which means their part-time schedule isn’t because they can’t find a full-time job or because business conditions make it impossible to work full-time hours). To demonstrate the variety of high-paying and professional jobs that don’t require a full-time schedule, FlexJobs has identified thirteen high-level jobs with part-time schedules for experienced candidates to consider. A “part-time” job refers to a job requiring fewer than 35 hours of work per week.

In the past 10 years, we’ve seen a significant growth in the depth and variety of opportunities for professional part-time jobs at the higher career levels, despite the misconception that part-time positions can’t be available at the senior manager or C-suite level. This is a welcome shift, as part-time work has the advantage of providing professionals with the ability to maintain their skills and industry knowledge without vastly decreasing their income or committing to a full-time schedule,” Sutton Fell concluded.
Each of the 13 jobs on this list meets the following criteria:
-The job is a part-time position, requiring less than 35 hours per week
-The job is professional-level, requiring advanced experience and education
-The job’s pay rates at least $50 per hour, which, in a full-time role, would equate to at least $104,000 annually. Rates below are according to the high end of Payscale’s hourly scale.
-All jobs were actively hiring as of November 13, 2017
Pay Rate: $258.16/hr
Description: Part-time opportunity. Duties include interviewing individuals seeking legal help, providing advice & representation, conducting legal outreach in the community, and ensuring the timely submission of reports.
Pay Rate: $199.25/hr
Description: Freelance, part-time opportunity working Mondays & Tuesdays. Will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, & treating various mental health conditions, preparing detailed written psychiatric reports, and creating & maintaining patient records.
3. Vice President, Medical Affairs
Pay Rate: $135.93/hr
Description: Develop strategies that are aligned with the organization's vision and values. Will provide oversight for clinical and medical areas. Oversee development of policies. Doctor of Medicine will be required. This is a part-time role. 20 hours a week.
Pay Rate: $135.04/hr
Description: Part-time role with occasional travel and weekend hours. Will be responsible for providing acute, preventive, and episodic care for patients. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of medicine with 3+ years' clinical experience.
