Remote-Learner is excited to announce, "Idea-A-Thon," a contest to encourage new ideas to improve online learning. A cash prize of $1,000 is up for grabs.

Remote-Learner, experts in the design and delivery of online educational solutions built on open source platforms, is excited to announce Idea-a-thon, a contest that celebrates innovation in online learning. The contest invites participants to send in their ideas and proposals, considering ways in which their experience could be improved, whether it be with new features, better accessibility, integrations with other platforms, or even just out-of-the-box, cool, new ways to engage learners or improve the online learning environment.

Corporate trainers, instructional designers, digital learning administrators, faculty members, students, and anyone who has taken an online learning course is encouraged to enter, as the spirit of the contest is to stoke the energy and further the conversation for improving online learning.

“The Idea-A-Thon is a demonstration of Remote-Learner’s continued commitment to cultivating new ideas and methodologies,” said Dr. Page Chen, President and Chief Innovation Officer at Remote-Learner. “The inspiration for this contest came from participating in hack-a-thons and feeling the excitement that comes from those events. It is always inspiring to see the open source development community come together and rally for a common cause, so we thought, why not recreate the same energy, but open it up to a larger audience by asking all users to pitch their ideas.”

To enter, participants are asked to submit a brief abstract that identifies the issue they have chosen to address, along with an outline of their solution and why it is valuable. Creativity is encouraged! The top prize is $1,000, plus the opportunity for all semi-finalists to workshop and explore their ideas with Remote-Learner’s team of designers and developers.

“The Idea-A-Thon represents a way for us to engage with our clients, users and the online learning community at large. We want to open a dialogue and invite people to participate in the conversation about improving online learning because as we’ve learned from our clients, the best ideas come from our users,” said Chen.

More information about the contest, the official rules, and the guidelines for entry can be found on the official contest page at:

The deadline for entries is Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:59PM EDT.
