Home Chef, Feeding America® Kick Off “Season of Giving” to Bring Joy to More Tables this Holiday Season
CHICAGO (PRWEB) November 15, 2017 -- Home Chef, the largest private meal kit company in the United States, is kicking off their “Season of Giving,” a partnership with Feeding America®, to support efforts to help end hunger in the U.S. Whether hosting a family dinner or attending a Friendsgiving feast, Home Chef is making it easier than ever to spread the joy beyond the dinner table this holiday season.
During a time that’s so synonymous with good eating it’s hard to imagine that people go without a hot Thanksgiving meal. Still, 41 million people in the U.S. face hunger, including 13 million children. Through this partnership with Feeding America, a network of 200 food banks, Home Chef and its customers are committed to contributing at least one million meals for families in need. Home Chef is kicking it off with a donation of $50,000 and, until December 22nd, customers can add a $5 Feeding America donation to their weekly Home Chef orders.
“From the start, we’ve been focused on bringing joy to more tables and this is the perfect time of year to take it even further,” says Pat Vihtelic, CEO and founder of Home Chef. “This partnership with Feeding America will give us a chance to help make sure that families in need have an opportunity to gather around the dinner table during this festive time.”
“Hunger is an issue that impacts every single county in our country. Feeding America is thankful to Home Chef for its commitment to helping people who may not know where they will find their next meal. This partnership helps us achieve our goal of providing more meals to children and families in need,” said Nancy Curby, Senior Vice President, Corporate Partnerships and Operations at Feeding America.
The “Season of Giving” program is part of Home Chef’s ongoing commitment to bringing delicious meals to families around the country while also working to eliminate food waste. Whenever possible, the team works tirelessly to ensure that all excess food is either donated to local food banks and pantries or otherwise redistributed back into the food system and aims to operate a zero-waste food processing facility.
