Analytics Survey Launches with Focus on EPM/BI Cloud
Arlington, Texas (PRWEB) November 15, 2017 -- interRel Consulting today launched the 2018 version of its State of Business Analytics (SoBA) survey. The SoBA18 survey comes one year after the inaugural launch of this five-year study of analytics in the information age. The survey polls companies on the current state of their Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Business Intelligence (BI) platforms including planning, reporting, consolidation, and cloud adoption. The survey is open to all companies at epm.bi/survey.
By taking the survey each year, companies are able to see the changes in their own EPM/BI platform and watch trends over these next few critical years in technology disruption. Over the last year, the industry has seen an increased move to the cloud, evident by Oracle’s boost in product releases and earnings. interRel will publish the survey results in January 2018.
“There’s no question that the world of Analytics is changing. We do this survey each year to find out how fast the world is changing, and we discovered last year that EPM and BI are changing faster than anyone realized,” said Edward Roske, CEO of interRel. He added that “Cloud is just one of the disruptions we’re facing but we’re also seeing planning, consolidation, reporting, and analysis processes evolve faster than any time since the financial scandal fallout of the early 21st century.”
Based on the findings of the SoBA17 survey, interRel identified five key disruptors in the world of financial close, planning, and reporting. The 2017 data included responses from more than 250 companies across 18 industries in 13 countries. interRel’s white paper (epm.bi/soba17) on the results has been downloaded hundreds of times. The study found business analytics are being disrupted by innovation in methodologies as well as the transformation of tools, driven by the migration from slowly evolving on-premise products to rapidly changing cloud-based solutions. interRel will continue to conduct the survey through 2022 and will publish additional findings in subsequent white papers.
The overwhelming amount of available data in today’s uncertain market creates numerous challenges for businesses. Predicting and understanding change by recognizing trends and the impact they have is crucial to remaining strategic and competitive. Immense value can be gained by garnering insights from data and then feeding it back into strategy.
