MUNCIE, Ind. (PRWEB) November 16, 2017
The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), the nation’s leading voice for model aircraft flying hobbyists, and the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA), a collegiate organization dedicated to developing and advancing aviation education and safety, have formed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore collaborative opportunities for university students to become involved in model aviation. This agreement also means that the organizations will provide increased visibility for each other through outreach and communications channels.
“The AMA is extremely proud to associate with NIFA and work to provide UAV [unmanned aerial vehicle] activities for an organization that has developed an arena for collegiate aviation competition,” said Bill Pritchett, AMA director of Education.
The Academy of Model Aeronautics, founded in 1936, continues to be devoted to national airspace safety. It serves as the nation’s collective voice for approximately 187,000 modelers in 2,400 clubs in the US and Puerto Rico. Headquartered in Muncie, Indiana, AMA is a membership-based organization representing those who fly model aircraft for recreational and educational purposes. The National Intercollegiate Flying Association was formed for the purposes of developing and advancing aviation education; to promote, encourage, and foster safety in aviation; to promote and foster communications and cooperation between aviation students, educators, educational institutions, and the aviation industry; and to provide an arena for collegiate aviation competition.
