WhatHouse? announces the winners of UK housebuilding’s most prestigious awards
London (PRWEB UK) 17 November 2017 -- Berkeley Group has been named Housebuilder of the Year at today’s WhatHouse? Awards presented at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane.
Top comedian Jack Whitehall and former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio presented the industry’s biggest prize at the climax of the event, the largest and most coveted accolades in British housebuilding, now in their 36th year.
Awards judges said: ‘Berkeley simply refuses to rest on gold-plated, copper-bottomed laurels, always prepared to push boundaries, looking ahead, staying ahead and constantly thinking in terms of both today’s customer and tomorrow’s legacy.’
In total the Berkeley Group won eight awards, including six golds. Suffolk-based Hopkins Homes was crowned Best Medium Housebuilder, while Metis Homes from Hampshire won gold in the Best Small Housebuilder category. Swan Housing Association was awarded Housing Association of the Year and Mount Anvil picked up three golds.
The WhatHouse? Awards is the biggest event in the housebuilding calendar with 1,600 senior figures from the new homes industry attending the Gala Luncheon in the five-star hotel’s Great Room.
Rupert Bates, editorial director of Whathouse.com and leading trade magazine Show House, said: “The Awards highlight what the best housebuilders, large and small, and their supply chains, can deliver. There are skills in abundance in the outstanding new homes showcased today. The industry has many challenges ahead, but for now let us celebrate the best new homes in Britain. We would like to thank all the housebuilders, suppliers and other industry colleagues who have once again supported this great event, with special thanks to the Awards sponsors and judges.”
