Glenda Gillaspy's Newly Released "And All the Rivers Between" Is a Meaningful Book About a Precocious Child Who Gets to Know About God Through Her Caregiver's Stories
(PRWEB) November 23, 2017 -- “And All the Rivers Between”: a delightful book on a deep connection between a child and her nanny, and her further journeys as a married woman. “And All the Rivers Between” is the creation of published author, Glenda Gillaspy, a devout Christian who is a former board-certified hearing specialist for almost twenty-five years.
Glenda shares, “Nanny carefully packed the trunks and boxes that the young couple would be taking with them to their new home in Oregon. Quilts and blankets, kitchen items, dishes, and a few pieces of furniture. Nanny insisted on Elaine taking the rocking chair. A thick cookbook that Mama gave her was tucked in with care. That cookbook held all the delicious family recipes Elaine had eaten all her life; wonderful Creole cuisine from Mama’s family and the more traditional recipes from Papa’s side. There were also helpful hints Mama had written in the margins that told her how many pints make a quart, how many teaspoons make a tablespoon, and how to make sour milk if you don’t have buttermilk. They would be purchasing their food supplies in Independence just before starting their long trek west.
As she packed, Nanny’s heart broke a little more. Each item was baptized with tears from the heartsick old servant. Ramsey was waiting for each container as Nanny sealed it. He carried them down to the stable where Lonnie placed them carefully into the wagon.
Elaine checked off each item as it was packed away. She racked her brain for anything else they might need, but could think of nothing. As she sat and watched her beloved Nanny, carefully placing their belongings into each container, she suddenly realized that Nanny didn’t look well.”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Glenda Gillaspy’s new book revolves around the theme of racial differences. The interactions of the characters show the expectations and perceptions as to how a certain race has to act in certain situations.
This is also a gripping story of Elaine’s journey in being married to Lonnie and growing old together with him.
