InternationalStudent.com Announces the 12th Annual Travel Video Contest Winners
NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. (PRWEB) November 21, 2017 -- InternationalStudent.com, a leading international education marketing company serving students and academic institutions worldwide, is proud to announce the winners of this year’s Travel Video Contest. Now in its 12th year, the contest requires current and aspiring international students to describe a proposed study abroad experience, or if they’re already studying abroad, a proposed trip. All entries must be submitted in video format and cannot exceed 4 minutes in length. Entrants can win an array of cash prizes and the overall contest winners are released each year on the final day of International Education Week.
“Each year our team at International Student is taken aback by the depth of emotion and personal aspirations shared by contest entrants. These videos allow us to see what motivates these students to better themselves and the world we all live in,” explains Bryanna Davis, Marketing Manager at InternationalStudent.com. “These students and their heartfelt stories, dreams and aspirations are nothing short of remarkable.”
To begin narrowing down this year’s 103 qualifying submissions, the staff of International Student reviewed each entry for creativity, originality and overall quality to select 14 finalists. The Viewers’ Choice Winner, Juan Sebastian Bayona Carrillo, was then added to the list for a total of 15 finalists. A judging panel of nine international educators, supporters and travelers then selected the first, second and third-place recipients from the finalists.
Inspired by Japanese animation and culture, Dini Restyanti’s submission, “Finding My Ikigai” has earned this year’s Travel Video Contest’s Grand Prize title and $4,000 award. The Japanese term Ikigai translates to “a reason for being,” and has helped motivate her towards her goal of earning a master’s degree in Japan. As part of her prize, Restyanti will blog about her international experience on InternationalStudent.com.
With her submission drawn completely on a dry erase board, Colombian student Laura Catalina Rey Gallego’s video has earned the second-place recognition and a $500 prize. The resourceful video, “Drawing My Trip” is inspired by her dream to study at the New York Film Academy and one day produce films that will rival classic Disney films in terms of their success.
Brazilian native Eliel Freer-Sullivan shares his hopes of studying musical theatre in New York City through song. Freer-Sullivan’s thoughtful submission, “New York, New York, My American Dream,” has earned the title of third-place winner and a cash prize of $250.
This year’s Viewers’ Choice Winner of $1,000 is Juan Sebastian Bayona Carrillo for his comical submission, “Making the US My New Home.” Utilizing a two-step plan to help overcome homesickness and to make the best of his schooling in the US, this exchange student received the most online votes for his submission, automatically becoming a contest finalist.
“Our appreciation goes out to all current and aspiring students who chose to share their stories with us and become a part of the 2017 Travel Video Contest,” says Davis. “Our hope is that young people around the world will be positively impacted by the passion and determination of this year’s contest entrants and will be inspired to one-day travel or study abroad themselves.”
