Corista to Present on AI and Leveraging Next-Generation Technology in Support of Pathologists
CONCORD, Mass. (PRWEB) November 21, 2017 -- Global Engage’s 4th Digital Pathology Congress: Europe will focus on understanding and utilizing digital pathology as a tool for advancing pathology practice and enabling enhanced patient care. The conference will take place in London on November 30-December 1.
Corista’s presentation will focus on artificial intelligence and leveraging next-generation technology in support of pathologists. Dr. Wilbur will present on the clinical context and rationale, and Mr. Wirch will present on the current platform, results and research.

About the Presenters:
Dr. Wilbur is Corista’s Chief Medical Scientist and Pathologist and leads the medical efforts for Corista’s artificial intelligence studies. Dr. Wilbur is focused on the use of technology to improve physician workflows, productivity, and accuracy. Since 2001, Dr. Wilbur has led the Cytopathology Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is a practicing pathologist. In 2011, he took over the Pathology Department’s efforts in the emerging area of Clinical Imaging, integrating digital pathology and tele-consultation. Dr. Wilbur is Professor of Pathology (part-time) at Harvard Medical School.
Mr. Wirch heads Corista’s technology development team focused on creating image-centric solutions for complex workflow and information management issues. Their approach emphasizes architecture, scalability, security and system availability. Mr. Wirch has more than 20 years of experience in the design and implementation of distributed and cloud-based computer systems, primarily for video and imaging systems. Mr. Wirch has designed and deployed solutions for some of the leading companies in video distribution and personalization and represents Corista on the DICOM standards committee. He holds two granted patents and has several more on file.
Dr. Kaplan is Corista’s Chief Medical Officer and is an active member of the College of American Pathologists and executive board member of the American Pathology Foundation. He is a graduate of Michigan State University and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he was named Resident of the Year. Since 2007, Dr. Kaplan has published The Digital Pathology Blog at tissuepathology.com, the industry’s leading pathology blog.
