Today, Innovate+Educate (I+E), is pleased to announce their continued partnership with Tufts Medical Center as well as two new grants to advance core foundational skills as a measure of competency and performance on the job. I+E is a national nonprofit that has multiple employer-driven projects across the U.S. with a focus on developing strategies for new employment pathways based on skills and competencies.
Tufts Medical Center partnered with I+E in 2016 through a Rockefeller Foundation funded initiative supporting a national employer council to pilot innovative strategies in training and hiring. Tufts Medical Center commits to continuing the work of validating the efficacy of skills-based hiring and training in 2018. The work was recently recognized by the Boston Globe in the ‘Top Places to Work’ section.
In October, AT&T funded I+E to identify and/or build a companion soft skills curriculum that could be open and free to learners. The curriculum will be short, modularized, “just in time” training for those seeking employment skills in core areas such as customer service, communication, critical thinking, drives for results, and adaptability. The grant supports a landscape analysis and curriculum design to assure worker access to effective tools that align with employer demand.
At the beginning of November, I+E received a grant from ECMC Foundation to manage, advance, expand and elevate their Soft Skills Digital Library. The grant provides I+E funding to continue to develop the library and leverage their employment technology expertise to refine and accelerate the opportunities for providing educators, trainers, learners, and others national access to soft skills resources.
“ECMC Foundation is pleased to award this grant to expand the Soft Skills Digital Library through Innovate+Educate’s national footprint. I+E was awarded the grant due to their expertise in technology and soft skills training, as well as their ability to expand the library and upgrade the online resources, ensuring soft skills resources are available across all fifty states,” said Jennifer Zeisler, ECMC Foundation Program Director.
“We are grateful to our funders who believe in our work, allowing us to continue advancing frontline workers and assuring employment and training for the many citizens being left out of the ‘traditional’ hiring market,” said Jamai Blivin, CEO of Innovate+Educate. “Screening that relies on keywords, degree, and years of experience is knocking out at least 50% of people in the jobs market, many of those we know have the competencies to be successful and will perform well on the job.”
