The Family Conversation You Need to Have on the Menu for Thanksgiving
NEW YORK (PRWEB) November 22, 2017 -- Alphabet soup probably isn’t on the menu at too many Thanksgiving gatherings this year, but a conversation about the alphabet soup of Medicare options should be.

There are Parts A and B, and everyone knows about Part D, don’t they? But what about Part C — Medicare Advantage?
You have all that, right?
While it may be an unfamiliar or confusing topic, it’s important that adult children have the Medicare discussion with their aging parents as the Annual Enrollment Period is taking place now through December 7, 2017.
When it comes to the Annual Enrollment Period, most people have questions regarding when and how to enroll for Medicare. And when it comes to Medicare options, some don’t even know they have them. In fact, a survey for the Better Medicare Alliance1 found that 65% of beneficiaries on Original Medicare are unfamiliar with Medicare Advantage plans — and, only 29% of beneficiaries on Original Medicare say Medicare Advantage was presented as a clear option when they researched plans.
Aetna recently partnered with D S Simon Media and YourUpdate.TV on a nationwide media tour featuring Nancy Cocozza, senior vice president and head of Aetna’s Medicare business, to help address the gap in both communication and understanding of Medicare and share insight based on the Medicare questions that Aetna hears most frequently, including:
• How do I start the health care conversation with my loved one?
• So to clear up any confusion, who is eligible for Original Medicare?
• What is a Medicare Advantage plan and how do I know if it’s right for my loved one?
• What do I need to know about a Medicare plan before I enroll?
• What are Medicare Star Ratings and how can I use them?
• Are there resources for more information that you can direct us to?

1Morning Consult, on behalf of the Better Medicare Alliance, conducted an online survey of 1,999 Medicare-eligible beneficiaries from July 24 - July 26, 2017, with a margin of error of +/- 2%. The survey is not endorsed by Medicare
