Author Stanton Horn's Newly Released "Dirtbag Disciple" Reveals a Personal Miracle That Transformed a Broken Man's Existence into a Life of Victory and Purpose
(PRWEB) November 29, 2017 -- “Dirtbag Disciple” is the creation of published author, Stanton Horn. Stanton was raised in Bakersfield California in the 1960s. After several years of university, he pursued a career as an executive chef. He excelled in this field due to his passion for cooking. He has accumulated numerous culinary awards from the American Culinary Federation. An amazing encounter with God has, however, sent him in a new direction. At the age of fifty-five, he now works for Southern California Teen Challenge as a student advisor and kitchen manager. Stanton’s new passion is helping students overcome their addictions by developing their personal relationships with Jesus Christ. He has also traveled extensively.
“I started writing this book while I was still a student at Southern California Teen Challenge. I wrote it to the best of my ability, truthfully and without compromise. There are moments throughout where my comments may seem punitive upon the ministry that saved my life. Keep in mind that I was writing about my feelings at that particular moment and does not necessarily reflect how I felt at the end of my journey. Yes, while I was a student I made many mistakes. But in retrospect, I clearly see that God’s hand was on me the whole time.” --Stanton Horn
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Stanton Horn’s new book recounts a story of redemption and healing.
Stanton Horn was once an ordinary boy. When he was ten years old, his life was altered forever. A family friend sexually molested him. After the horrific and traumatic experience, he became a sexually confused man and drug addict who lost everything and everyone in his life, including his family. Thirty-eight years of subsequent drug use left him covered in shame and hating everything about himself. He believed there was no hope of ever returning to a normal life. One suicide attempt after another left him a broken man. On a dismal Bakersfield day one December, Stanton tried to kill himself one last time.
Before he could pull the trigger, someone knocked on his door. When he opened the door, there were two men who said they were from Teen Challenge. They told him that there was a place where he could go to get off the drugs and brought closer to God. More importantly, they offered him hope. He did not know it at the time, but his life was, again, about to be altered forever. December 27, 2011 was the day that Stanton entered the doors of Teen Challenge in Shafter, CA. Because of this choice, he was given a new life, a life filled with victory and purpose. It was not, however, an easy choice.
